Jonathan left school in 1991 and joined an engineering company as an apprentice presswork toolmaker. While he was studying his BTEC Nat Cert in Mechanical Engineering he was introduced to AutoCAD (v.10) and was completely gripped by it. He moved jobs within engineering, working on the machines and progressing into prototype work, which involved design and machining to prove the concept.
In 2001, due to the lack of engineering opportunities, he put his AutoCAD skillset to use and retrained in Architectural Design, qualifying as an Architectural Technologist in 2008. In retraining, he found his vocation and love of Architectural Design.
Since then, Jonathan spent a few years as a college Lecturer, Course Director and Guest Lecturer for a University, writing and delivering curriculum up to and including Foundation Degree and HND level.
After leaving teaching, Jonathan went to work for a leading Architectural Joinery company. He was involved in the design of many projects in 2D, 3D and parametric modelled, some of which have won awards.
In 2021, even though he had been an Autodesk user for 30 years, Jonathan found software that in his opinion is a far better CAD package than AutoCAD, namely BricsCAD. He now uses and endorses BricsCAD, although he does not work for them or their distribution partners.
In 2022, Jonathan made the difficult decision to start his own business and JGB Architectural Designs Ltd was born. The core reasons for the change were to have more control over his work life balance and to create his own company to be proud of. We have all learned over the last few years that life is short and there comes a time when you just have to go for it!
Having a very successful and multifaceted career, he prides himself on his attention to detail, problem solving abilities, openness to learn and collaborate with people and his professionalism. All of which are second to none. These fundamental attributes are fully incorporated into JGB Architectural Designs Ltd.
